PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic determination method and device allowing accurate determination, a program, and a recording medium. SOLUTION: The method for determining a condensed pattern formed in a reactor includes (A) setting a reference space, based on a single kind or a plurality of kinds of typical reaction image groups, (B) setting a single kind or a plurality of kinds of unit areas respectively as to each reference space obtained in the (A), and finding a Mahalanobis distance in each thereof, (C) setting a threshold based on the Mahalanobis distance obtained in the (B), (D) setting a single kind or a plurality of kinds of unit areas as to a reaction image of a determination object, and finding the Mahalanobis distance of each thereof, and (E) determining the determination object by comparing the distance found in the (D) with the threshold set in the (C).
