The invention relates to a flat light (1) having a translucent front surface (2) and a rear surface (4) that are opposite each other and that form a cavity between them. A discharge gas mixture can be accommodated in said cavity (6). The rear surface (14) is also translucent enabling light to be diffused on the front surface (2) and also on the rear surface (4).
