An apparatus and a method for retransmission in a wireless communication terminal are provided to improve reliability and reception performance of the data transmission and reception and reduce the waste of a resource due to data retransmission by selectively retransmitting the data according to the channel state. If the ACK signal is received from the receiving unit, the transmitting unit terminates the algorithm after disusing the data to be transmitted to the receiving unit.
