The inventive method for producing hydrogen by chemically interacting metal and water and a device for carrying out said method relate to electrochemistry, in particular to electrochemical engineering. The inventive method consists in initiating and maintaining, in a water-fillable reaction chamber, an electric arc discharge between a metal reagent in the form of an expendable electrode and a discharge electrode. The device for carrying out the above-mentioned hydrogen producing method comprises a feeding mechanism, a power supply unit, the water-fillable reaction chamber, the expendable electrode discharge electrodes and makes it possible to carry out a target reaction with the aid of a low-voltage arc discharge. The feeding mechanism is also provided with a vibrator which stimulates formation of small drops of the metal reagent in the electric discharge, thereby improving the reaction performance and increasing the final product yield. |
