<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a start controller for a vehicle capable of properly avoiding the down of a battery. <P>SOLUTION: When a vehicle is stopped, the engine is not operated, and a continuous time during which an ignition switch is at an ACC position or an IG-on position exceeds a predetermined time, if a smart key terminal is absent in the cabin of the vehicle, the ignition switch is automatically turned off. If the smart key terminal is absent in the cabin of the vehicle even after a predetermined time is further elapsed after the ignition switch is automatically turned off, the steering and all doors are locked.
