<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell capable of shortening a discharging time of the water of a reaction product and suppressing dry-up. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell has: an electrolyte membrane 15a; catalyst layers 15b as a pair of electrodes arranged on both sides of the electrolyte membrane 15a; a diffusion layer 16 arranged on a side opposite to the diffusion layer 16 and the electrolyte membrane 15a; and a passage forming part 17 formed at the opposite side to the diffusion layer 16 and the catalyst layer 15b and making gas flow along the diffusion layer 16. The flow direction of the gas in the passage forming part 17 can be reversed in scavenging operation and in normal operation, and a hole 21 in which an opening 20 at the passage forming part 17 side is positioned at the upstream side in the gas flow direction in scavenging operation apart from a part at the catalyst layer 15b side is formed in the diffusion layer 16. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
