PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable photosensitive material which gives sufficient image density within practical reaction temperature and reaction time, takes on a silver tone close to pure black after development, and ensures less temporal change thereof. SOLUTION: The heat developable photosensitive material contains a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a photosensitive silver halide, a reducing agent for silver ions, an organic polyhalogen compound represented by general formula (II) and a binder on one surface of a transparent support, wherein a content of the reducing agent is 2.4-3.5 mmol/m<SP>2</SP>, the reducing agent contains at least one compound represented by general formula (I), and a content of the reducing agent represented by general formula (I) is 0.4-3.5 mmol/m<SP>2</SP>, provided that the range of 2.4-3.5 mmol/m<SP>2</SP>is excluded.
