PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover a displacer when a length measuring wire breaks and allows the displacer to sink. SOLUTION: A recovering basket 22 is housed by providing a basket housing portion 21 on the lower end side of a guide pipe 13, in a displacer-type liquid level meter I of a form wherein the displacer 12 connected to the length measuring wire 11 to be wound and sent out from a balance driver 10 provided at the upper end of the guide pipe 13, is arranged inside the guide pipe 13. A displacer recovering device is formed by providing in addition a temporary winch 23 for attaching to the guide pipe 13 in place of the balance driver 10, and a basket holder 25 attached to the wire 24 of the temporary winch 23. When the displacer 12 sinks due to the breakage of the measuring wire 11, the displacer is received with the recovering basket 22, and is recovered by lifting the displacer up together with the recovering basket 22, by the use of the basket holder 25 hung down from the temporary winch 23 attached to the upper end side of the guide pipe 13.
