PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retaining device capable of retaining objects to be retained speedily in accordance with the sizes of the objects of a plurality of kinds while negating the need for arranging and forming holes previously correspondingly to the sizes of the objects of the plurality of kinds to be sucked, and to provide a conveyance device with the same. SOLUTION: Compressed gas and sucking force are selectively supplied to the holes from a compressed air supply unit 15 and a sucking force supply unit 16 via a plurality of contact sections 21 respectively having the holes opened 21A in face of predetermined one virtual flat surface and a changeover unit 14 connected to the respective contact sections 21. The respective contact sections 21 are moved in a direction toward the rim from the center of a frame 26 by the compressed air supplied from the compressed air supply unit 15, and the sucking force from the sucking force supply unit 16 is supplied in the holes at positions where the respective contact sections 21 correspond to the size of the object, thereby sucking and retaining the object.
