The method involves creating an optical effect of a dental prosthesis part (1) with a computer assisted method, where the optical effect is or contains a color phenomenon, reflection phenomenon, holographic phenomenon or a transparency phenomenon. The optical effect is assigned to different layers, where the layers overlap in different regions. The prosthesis part is optically simulated with the optical effect and with a two dimensional representation method. Data describing the form of the prosthesis part is used. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for manufacturing of a dental prosthesis part (2) a device with a unit for designing and/or simulating an optical effect of a dental prosthesis part (3) a device for computer assisted manufacturing of a dental prosthesis part (4) a computer readable data medium with a program code, which implements a method for designing of a dental prosthesis part.
