The filter cartridge (1) comprises housing (2) with an inlet (5) and an outlet. A unit is provided between inlet and outlet for flow reversal. The housing has a circular strip (7), which is arranged at an upper edge of the filter cartridge. A chamber (3) is arranged between the unit and outlet in the housing. The chamber is filled with a water purification medium, particularly silver, heavy metal or arsenic adsorbing medium. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement, which has an adapter for use in a water filter device.
