In a sliding window having an inner (left hand side in Fig. 5) sliding panel and an outer (right hand side in Fig. 5) sliding panel the bottom 13 of the inner panel guide channel 11 lies above the bottom 16 of the outer panel guide channel 12 to provide a longitudinal space 18 and the plastic run 10, Fig. 3, in the channel 11 has a duct communicating with an opening 19 (not shown in Fig. 5) and the opening 19 coincides with a duct in the bottom 13 communicating with the space 18 and the plastic run 10 in the channel 12 has an opening 19 Fig. 5 in alignment with a duct 21 in the weatherside 15 of the channel 12, the openings in both channels being staggered in relation to each other so that water in the inner channel run 10 drains into space 18 and flows through opening 19 and duct 21 while water from the outer channel run flows through a duct in communication with opening 19 and out through duct 21. The ducts in the bottoms of the inner and outer runs 10 need not coincide with the channel ducts but may be at other places in the length of the guide so as to communicate with the longitudinal duct formed by ribs 22, Fig. 3, on the runs 10, standing on the bottom of the channels 11 and 12. The sashes 26 are supported on rollers 24 mounted in housings 25 and run on the upper beaded edges of the flanks 14, 15 of the cill bar 4 in which the inner and outer channels 11, 12 are formed as shown. A sashless panel rides on a rib 23, Fig. 3 of the plastic run 10.</p> |
