PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a friction damper device having great damping capability while permitting great displacement using an external damper for a bearing, instead of a conventional external damper which is mounted on a rolling bearing or a sliding bearing under special conditions, having less damping effects, and which has a small range of elastic deformation and a great spring constant, as disadvantages. SOLUTION: A band plate material is formed polygonal, wound on a bearing and mounted on a bearing housing to form a bent beam with 6-12 contact points on the while periphery. Spring force with the bending of the beam is utilized for elastically supporting it, and minute-slide friction with the deformation of the beam is utilized for absorbing vibration energy.
