The present invention provides a lower profile highway sign trailer wherein the message board or sign is positioned lengthwise with and rests upon the trailer frame base supports during transport. The rear end of the sign board is fastened to and raised vertically by a rack, or other suitable devise, utilizing a geared pinion and portable power drill or other suitable mechanism and power source. The trailer tongue pivots on the frame and is raised to the vertical position utilizing a curved rack, or other suitable device, where it adds support to the forward end of the sign board and may be locked in that position. Two handles are provided which may be used to manually position the trailer at the most desirable display angle. A minimum of space is required for setup as the tongue does not protrude, which is also a desirable safety factor. A rear section may house a generator and/or battery packs and solar panels are located on the roof. The trailer may have considerable storage and equipment capacity accessible from both sides and the rear, and may necessitate one less vehicle at the work site. An adaptation of this present invention provides a trailer for roadside signs in which the tongue pivots to, and locks in the vertical position, supporting the sign board, which does not raise. The off-road wheels cannot be removed. The rearward portion of the frame, tires and/or axle supports may be weighted with concrete, to give added stability.
