<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of giving authentication information immune to alteration to a toner unit, and efficiently performing authentication processing, and to provide a toner authentication method and a toner unit authentication processing program. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100 includes the toner unit 18 with an IC chip 183 in which toner unit related information 61 showing information related to the toner unit 18, and first authentication information 61h formed of partial information 62 that is part of the toner unit related information 61 and a first authentication key are written. The apparatus 100 includes a means 41 for reading the toner unit related information 61 and the first authentication information 61h from the IC chip 183, a means 42 for forming second authentication information of a second authentication key held by the apparatus and the read partial information 62, and a means 43 for authenticating the toner unit 18 based on the read first authentication information 61h and the second authentication information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
