PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-definition image in an imaging apparatus and to perform interpolation arithmetic at high speed by means of a simple processing circuit. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus includes an imaging unit and an image signal processing device 3 for performing interpolation arithmetic processing or the like. The imaging unit includes an image sensor, a one-dimensional optical low-pass filter and a color filter. The one-dimensional optical low-pass filter is adapted to split a light beam in one direction and is capable of suppressing deterioration of MTF characteristics for light orthogonal to a splitting direction (in an orthogonal direction). An image signal is demultiplexed into a green RAW image 31a, a red RAW image 31b, a blue RAW image 31c and one-dimensional interpolation arithmetic processing is performed upon the green RAW image 31a. The processing is performed only in a demultiplexing direction, so that characteristics of an optical system in the orthogonal direction are not deteriorated. Furthermore, since interpolation processing is performed only in one direction, interpolation arithmetic can be performed at high speed by a simple processing circuit. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
