PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adapter type endoscope capable of preventing a distal end adapter from being attached to the distal end of an insertion part while an O-ring is not attached. SOLUTION: The adapter type endoscope has a distal end part 3a to which the distal end adapter 10, comprising LEDs 18 to emit illumination light and an adapter side electric connection part 14 to be electrically connected to the LEDs 18, is detachably attached. The distal end part 3a has a contact part 36 electrically connected to the adapter side electric connection part 14 to feed the electric power for making the LEDs 18 emit light and a circumferential groove 34 in which the O-ring 7 for retaining the water tightness between the distal end adapter 10 and the distal end part 3a while the distal end adapter 10 is attached to the distal end part 3a is disposed.
