PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic analysis apparatus capable of measuring changes in color tone and turbidity precisely by using white light and monochrome light. SOLUTION: A photometric section 13 comprises a light source 20 having a white light source 21 for emitting white light and a monochromatic light source 22 for emitting monochrome light having intensity greater than that of the white light and straightness; an illumination direction setting section 24 for illuminating the white light or the monochrome light emitted from the light source 20 to a reaction vessel 3 at a photometric position; and a detector 28 which is illuminated from the illuminating direction setting section 24 and detects the white light or the monochrome light transmitted through the reaction vessel 3, in which the illuminating direction setting section 24 illuminates the white light or the monochrome light to the reaction vessel 3 based on the analysis requirement which is determined on analysis requirement setting screens 63, 64.
