PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overvoltage protection system guaranteeing that cell voltage does not exceed a value limited by a threshold while maintaining the setting voltage of a charger high. SOLUTION: A battery set 14 is constituted of a plurality of battery cells 11 to 13 connected in series. A protection voltage measuring part 51 measures the cell voltage of the respective battery cells. An operation part 65 calculates both end voltages of the battery set from cell voltage and outputs them as measured voltages. An overvoltage setting part 63 stops charging to the battery set when the value of cell voltage of one of the battery cells reaches the threshold. A diagnosis voltage measuring part 71 measures both end voltages of the battery set and outputs them as diagnosis voltage. A comparison circuit 67 stops charging to the battery set based on a result obtained by comparing the value of measured voltage with a value of diagnosis voltage. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
