PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To retain the strength of an exposed edge by a simple configuration in a belt carrier in which a long reinforcement tape is stuck to a belt base material, also to detect the reference position information of the belt base material, and to enable separation of the reinforcement tape to be easily seen in case it happens. SOLUTION: The belt carrier 3 includes: the endless belt base material 3a; meander restricting members 7 that extend along the rotating direction of the belt base material 3a and projects in the direction of the thickness of the belt base material 3a; the long reinforcement tape disposed near the widthwise edge of the belt base material so as to correspond to the meander restricting member on the surface of the belt base material 3a, extending along the rotating direction of the belt base material 3a and stuck so as to be in contact with or near the belt base material 3a; and body 9 to be detected, which is attached to the reinforcement tape 8 so as to cover the exposed edge of the reinforcement tape 8, has an optical reflecting face different from the surface of the reinforcement tape 8, and is capable of detecting the reference position information of the belt base material 3a.
