<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent rotating support member and guide member from interfering with each other without increasing the size of the main body of an image forming apparatus in its lengthwise and sidewise directions. <P>SOLUTION: The rotating support part 83 of the basal end of a cover member 10 is supported by a shaft member 84 so as to freely swing. The rotating support part 83 is reinforced by a guide aiding part 83b. The guide aiding part 83b is provide with a backward inclination guide 83c. When the cover member 10 is disposed in an opening position D2 and an opening 6a is opened, the guide aiding part 83b is disposed in a guide position E2, and consequently the backward inclination guide face 83c forms part of the guide member 86 in combination with a forward inclination guide face 86a.
