<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst support for use in cleaning exhaust, which is firstly capable of enhancing catalyst efficiency and catalyst performance in removing harmful substances, secondly shows excellent vibration resistance even if it is used in treating exhaust coming out of an engine accompanied by vibration, thirdly has excellent heat resistance, and fourthly has an advantage that the above virtues can easily be realized. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst support 1 is constituted of a roller-shaped honeycomb structure 4 disposed in an outer cylindrical case 5 and bonded thereto, which honeycomb structure 4 is formed of a plurality of wound layers of a pair of a belt-shaped corrugated sheet 2 and a belt-shaped plain sheet 3 each made from a metal foil whereon a catalytic substance is deposited. At least either of the corrugated sheet 2 and the plain sheet 3 of the honeycomb structure 4 is made from metal fabric 9. The metal fabric 9 has a structure of woven belt-shaped metal foils and has a function of causing exhaust A to turbulently flow through each of cell spaces 8 of the honeycomb structure 4 and increasing the contact between the exhaust A and the catalytic substance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
