<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To move a cursor stably and appropriately on, for example, GUI. <P>SOLUTION: A jog ball device comprises a jog ball 2 rotatable to move a cursor 9, a measurement means 11 for measuring amounts of rotation of the jog ball in a plurality of directions, an accumulation means 12 for accumulating the measured amounts of rotation in the plurality of directions, and an identification means 13 for selecting, on a determination area divided into a plurality of areas corresponding to a plurality of direction candidates to move the cursor, one of the plurality of areas according to the accumulated amounts of rotation and identifying one of the plurality of direction candidates corresponding to the one selected area as a movement direction.
