PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sewing machine having a needle receiver to be appropriately abutted onto a sewing needle. SOLUTION: The sewing machine includes: a needle bar 1 for supporting the sewing needle 2; a looper 6; the needle receiver 5 for pressurizing the sewing needle 2 from a side part; and a rocking mechanism 10 for rocking the needle receiver 5. The rocking mechanism 10 includes: a rocking member 11 for supporting and rocking the needle receiver 5; a spring 12 for energizing the rocking member 11 toward the needle bar 2; a stopper 13 for stopping the rocking member; and an eccentric cam 14.
