The method involves varying a light exposure dosage by variation of a light exposure time, tube voltages or tube currents, and generating a photograph with the varied parameters. The variation of the light exposure dosage is repeated by variation of another light exposure time, and another tube voltages or currents. A correlation between the parameters and photograph requirements is performed based on the photograph and depending on the quality of a signal response of an intra oral sensor (2), where a tooth region, patient size or photograph quality is considered as the requirements. An independent claim is also included for a computer program for generating light exposure parameters of a dental X-ray emitter for the light exposure of an intra oral sensor.
