<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize a γ curve, and improve contrast according to a pattern of an input image in an image processing apparatus, an image processing method, and a program which correct luminance using the γ curve for the input image. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus 10 is provided with a correction section setting unit 102 which sets a correction section, a correction section dividing unit 104 which divides the correction section into a black side section and a white side section, a histogram calculation unit 106 which calculates a total number of a luminance histogram in the black side section and the white side section, a gain setting unit 108 which sets gains of the γ curve which increases luminance and the γ curve which reduces luminance based on the total number of the luminance histogram in the black side section and the white side section, a γ curve creation unit 110 which creates the γ curve which increases luminance and the γ curve which reduces luminance based on the established gains, a γ curve composition unit 112 which combines the γ curve which increases luminance and γ curve which reduces luminance, and a luminance conversion unit 114 which performs luminance conversion processing using the composed γ curve. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
