PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for recognizing approach of a mobile body that is capable of effectively encouraging driver's attention to a movable body approaching the driver's vehicle. SOLUTION: The apparatus for recognizing approach of a mobile body includes: a light source 11 (attention drawing means); a vehicle speed sensor 12; a radar sensor 13; an external camera 14; a speaker 15; and a control circuit 20. Based on a vehicle speed detected by the vehicle speed sensor 12, a distance and a relative speed between the mobile body and the driver's vehicle that are detected by the radar sensor 13, and image data of the mobile body taken by the external camera 14, a sound generation portion 23 of the control circuit 20 generates a sound that informs of the mobile body from the direction in which the mobile body approaches the driver's vehicle, and forces the speaker 15 to output the sound. Before the sound is output from the speaker 15, a recognition control portion 22 (attention drawing means) of the control circuit 20 controls the light source 11 to go on and out so that the driver pays attention to the sound.
