PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new azo compound exhibiting a high color concentration or its salt. SOLUTION: The present invention provides the azo compound represented by formula (I) or its salt. In the formula (I), A is a phenyl group having one or more of a carboxyl group, a sulfo group, a sulfamoyl group, and an N-substituted sulfamoyl group, or a naphthyl group having one or more of a sulfo group, a sulfamoyl group and an N-substituted sulfamoyl group. R1is H or carbamoyl group. R2and R3are each independently a hydrogen atom or a saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group. R4to R7are each independently a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group, an alkoxyl group, a carboxyl group, a sulfo group, a sulfamoyl group or an N-substituted sulfamoyl group.
