PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stapler which is improved in smooth motion of legs of a staple while ensuring the durability and binding performance of a clincher groove. SOLUTION: The stapler comprises: a magazine 9 for storing staples; a driver arm 3 having a driver 13 for driving the staples stored in the magazine 9 toward sheets to be bound; and a clincher arm 5 having a clincher 16 for bending legs of the staple driven by the driver 13. The clincher 16 has a groove a bottom surface of a predetermined shape, and right and left, and front and rear wall surfaces as viewed from a front end of the magazine 9, and abuts on the legs of the staple penetrated through the bound sheets to bend the legs.
