<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an image decoding unit with a small circuit scale, decoding a plurality of types of video streams, each having a coding system of a high compression rate applied thereto, in a specified processing period. <P>SOLUTION: The image decoding unit for decoding the plurality of types of video streams coded by different coding systems includes: an input information decoding means for generating intermediate information including pixel coefficient information having proper format to each coding system, by decoding the input video stream using a decoding system corresponding to the coding system thereof; a reencoding means for generating an intermediate stream of common format independent of the pixel coefficient information format by reencoding the pixel coefficient information using a different coding system from the coding system executed for the plurality of types of the video streams; and a restoration means for decoding the intermediate stream and, based on the above decoding result, restoring information reduced in the coding processing when the input video stream is generated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
