The invention relates to an arrester device for blocking a motor vehicle part which can be displaced relative to a motor vehicle structure and be blocked by means of an arrester device in an idle position reached after displacement thereof, comprising at least one first friction element and at least one second friction element which is moved relative to the first friction element during displacement of the motor vehicle part and can therefore slide with its friction surface along a friction surface of the first friction element under conditions of sliding friction and which, in a particular idle position of the motor vehicle part, rests with its friction surface against the friction surface of the first friction element under conditions of adhesive friction. According to the invention, a device (31a, 320, 520; 10) for lifting the friction elements (1, 2) from one another is provided so that the friction force acting between the friction surfaces (10, 20) of the friction elements is reduced. Furthermore, a coupling mechanism (3) is provided by means of which the lifting device (31a, 320, 520) is coupled with the displaceable motor vehicle part so that the lifting of the two friction elements (1, 2) from one another in accordance with the position or the extent of the displacement of the motor vehicle part can be carried out in a certain displacement region of the motor vehicle part.
