The invention relates to a dashboard that comprises an airbag module provided under a flap (11) having a front edge close to the windshield (15). The flap (11) is hinged about an axis (16) parallel to the front edge thereof and arranged close to the surface of the dashboard, and includes a flange (18) defining an extension thereof on the other side of the hinge axis (16) so that the flange (18) has a rotation range within the dashboard upon the rotation of the flap (11) that opens under the action of an expanding airbag. A dampening device is provided for applying a braking action on the flange (18) at least in the final angular rotation range of the flap (11). The invention can be used in automobiles.
