METHOD FOR EFFICIENT VERTICAL HANDOFF UTILIZING BOUNDARY CELL INDICATION BIT AND MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM FOR THE SAME

A method for performing an efficient vertical hand-off by using a cell indication bit and a mobile communications system therefore are provided to increase the efficiency of handoff in a heterogeneous network. In case that the signal quality of service network is degraded, a mobile terminal confirms indication bit value included in a broadcast message(S403). If the indication bit value is a confirmation value, the mobile terminal searches heterogeneous network(S404). The mobile terminal attempts the vertical hand-off based on the search result of the heterogeneous network signal(S405).
