A navigation device providing traffic light information and a method for providing traffic light information using the same are provided to prevent an accident due to a sudden stop and reduce delay due to the traffic light by informing a driver of the traffic light information. A navigation device(200) providing traffic light information includes a GPS receiver(210), an identification code storage unit(220), a network module(230), a storage unit(240), a controller(250) and a display device(400). The GPS receiver receives the GPS signal from the GSP module and extracts a current position. The identification code storage unit stores its own identification code. The network module connects the network based on the identification code, is connected to a traffic light control system(300) and extracts the traffic signal related DB. The storage unit stores the traffic light related DB extracted from the network module. The controller extracts the traffic light location information by corresponding to the current position extracted from the GPS receiver and the traffic signal related DB stored in the storage unit. The display device displays traffic light location information data extracted from the controller.
