摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus that enables focus detection with high accuracy, by equivalently maintaining symmetric properties of pupil division, even if using lenses of different eye-point distances, without having to enhance the accuracy of manufacturing the solid-state image sensor, even when using a solid-state image sensor with a photoelectric conversion unit for detecting focuses. SOLUTION: The apparatus has at least one focus area at a portion of an effective pixel region, where a lens optical unit with a focus lens and a unit pixel with a microlens are arranged in a matrix form. In the unit pixel of the focus area, the photoelectric conversion unit for detecting focuses is arranged to be relatively shifted from the microlens by a predetermined shift amount. The focus area includes a solid-state image sensor constituted of a plurality of unit pixels with different shift amounts; a combining unit for combining the output of the photoelectric conversion unit of at least two unit pixels, with different shift amounts from the focus area at a predetermined rate; and a focus control unit for controlling the focuses of the lens optical unit using the results combined by the synthesis unit.
