PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubbing cloth which has characteristics of high wear resistance, high aligning uniformity and large alignment controllability. SOLUTION: The invention is characterized in that: the rubbing cloth includes a base fabric woven with warp and weft, and pile yarn transplanted to the base fabric and composed of bicomponent fibers of cotton fibers and rayon fibers; and the rubbing device includes a rubbing roll which is rotated with a driving device and the rubbing cloth which is wound around the rubbing roll and rubs an alignment layer of a liquid crystal display device.
