PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and inexpensively remove a trailing portion without causing any vibration and noise. SOLUTION: The trailing portion removing device 1 comprises: a pressing rod 5 capable of moving up and down; and a control mechanism 6 controlling the reciprocation of the pressurizing rod 5. The control mechanism 6 lowers the pressurizing rod 5 to the trailing portion W1 in a state where a casting W is fixed with the hand part 24 of a multi-articular robot, temporarily stops the pressurizing rod 5 at a position in which the tip of the pressurizing rod 5 is abutted against the trailing portion W, again lowers the pressurizing rod 5, and operates the pressurizing rod 5, so as to brake away the trailing portion W1.
