<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver capable of transmitting a control signal to an external device (for example, game machine) and displaying "the end of a display mode" on a screen when a setup time elapses. <P>SOLUTION: The television receiver comprises a time check portion 10, a memory 9, a control portion 8, and a connection interface 13. The time check portion 10 clocks an operating time at a game mode. The memory 9 stores various data such as a setup time and an indication. The control portion 8 performs the transmission control of a control signal SC to a game machine 16 and the reception control of an acknowledgement signal from the game machine 16, while the control portion 8 performs storage control and display control for game status information JG when the operating time clocked by the time check portion 10 exceeds the setup time stored by the memory 9.
