PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning optical system, an optical scanner and an image forming device, achieving high speed and high definition printing though being compact and low cost. SOLUTION: This scanning optical system has a light source which emits light flux of the wavelengthλ, a polygon mirror which deflects the light flux from the light source and performs scanning, and an image formation lens group which is arranged between the polygon mirror and a side to be scanned and consists of two lenses to form a light spot on the side to be scanned. The wavelengthλemitted from the light source is less than 600 nm and 0.06≤(1/N)×(L/f)≤0.11, where N is the number of reflective surfaces of the polygon mirror, L is the scanning width, and f is the focus distance in the main scanning direction of the image formation lens group.
