PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article storage device for a vending machine that not only can effectively prevent articles from unpiling and falling out of an article inlet but also can increase the efficiency of article replenishment. SOLUTION: The article inlet 7 is formed in an article storage part 10 for storing articles in a vertical stack. A storage door 8 for closing the article inlet 7 comprises a main door 12 for closing a substantially entire region of the article inlet 7 vertically, and a sub door 15 for closing a lower region of the article inlet 7. The main door 12 and the sub door 15 are configured for releasable engagement and configured for switching to an engaged attitude where the main door 12 and the sub door 15 are turned integrally and a disengaged attitude where the main door 12 and the sub door 15 can be turned independently.
