PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured to set an appropriate transfer bias voltage while taking into consideration recharging performance of a photoreceptor, and to surely perform a sufficient transfer. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus 100 transfers a toner image formed on the surface of the photoreceptor drum 10 to a paper sheet held and conveyed at a nip part formed by abutment of the photoreceptor drum 10 on a transfer roller 14 by applying the transfer bias to the transfer roller 14. Before the paper sheet is conveyed to the nip part, the feedback bias is applied to the transfer roller 14, and impedance to the feedback bias is detected at least twice, and the transfer bias is set on the basis of the detected impedance values.
