PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a route arrangement retrieval system and method of buried piping high in practicality. SOLUTION: This buried piping route retrieval system comprises a heating means for heating buried piping 10 buried in the ground, and an infrared imaging apparatus (thermography 24) for generating and displaying a gradation image according to the temperature distribution of the surrounding surface of the buried piping, and retrieves the route of the buried piping in the ground with a display gradation image of the infrared imaging apparatus. As the heating means, a microwave generating device 22 for radiating microwave to the buried piping and heating the buried piping is used. Therefore, the buried piping route retrieval system has high practicality because the piping can be certainly heated and the route arrangement can be retrieved even in a construction site having many uncertain elements such as a using state and buried state of the piping.
