PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a weld metal having excellent corrosion resistance to a weld joint of stainless steel, in particular, a weld joint of austenitic stainless steel and ferritic stainless steel, and a method for forming the weld metal. SOLUTION: The weld metal has a structure containing, by mass, 18-21% Cr,≤0.1% Mo,≤0.5% Cu, 0.03-0.2% Ti,≤0.025%Nb, and≤0.04% N , and containing Cr, Mo, Si, Nb, Ni, C and Mn so as to satisfy that the Cr equivalent is within a range of 18-25, and the Ni equivalent is within a range of 3-17, wherein the fraction of the austenitic phase is≥20%, and the C content of the austenitic phase is≤0.04%.
