PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine capable of improving response in output control of the internal combustion engine by reducing shock generated in actual gear change. SOLUTION: This device is applied to the internal combustion engine 2 provided with an automatic transmission 5 for gear change changing from one to another in low gear ratio position and high gear position, and is provided with a detection means 24 or the like detecting an operation condition of the internal combustion engine, an estimation means 20 estimating gear change timing of completion of gear change, a correction means 20 correcting the estimated gear change timing based on a predetermined map, a map change means 20 changing the predetermined map based on the corrected gear change timing, a calculation means 20 calculating engine demand torque of the internal combustion engine based on output torque difference of an automatic transmission generated between before and after gear change during gear change, and an engine control means 20 controlling the internal combustion engine to output the calculated engine demand torque from an output shaft during gear change.
