PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method for battery capacity that makes it possible to suppress temperature rise when the capacity of a battery is adjusted, to eliminate the impairment of the control characteristics of a controller, and to reduce thermal degradation in circuit elements. SOLUTION: The control method for battery capacity is such that: a first cell to a 96th cell are connected in series to construct a battery cell 2; the charging capacity of each cell is detected by a cell voltage detection circuit 8; and the charging capacity of each cell is adjusted by duty control by a battery controller 4 and a processing circuit 9. The battery controller 4 and the processing circuit 9 carry out processing in Steps S4 and S5 at which the number of cells requiring capacity adjustment is determined and the duty ratio for capacity adjustment is changed according the number of cells requiring capacity adjustment.
