PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk drive that accurately decides whether an optical disk is poor in quality. SOLUTION: The optical disk drive 1 comprises a spindle motor 2, a PU head 3, an FE/TE generator 41, a driving circuit 42, a recording/reproduction processing circuit 6, a laser power control circuit 62, a laser driving circuit 63, an HD 66, an HDD 67, and a control unit 7. The PU head 3 irradiates a disk with laser light to record and read data. The FE/TE generator 41 generates a FE signal and a TE signal. The control unit 7 stores program performing processes 70 to 74. A poor-quality disk decision process 70 comprises a strategy confirming process 71, an external shape quality decision process 72, and an OPC process 73 and determines that an optical disk has poor quality if abnormality is found in any of the processes.
