PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning confocal microscope capable of speedily correcting the displacement of the imaging point of an imaging lens, which arises due to the switching of a light source by an incident light switching mechanism or the switching of a switching optical member. SOLUTION: An amount of displacement of condensing position in the place of the optical member of an incidence switching section 3 and that in the each positions of an excitation light/signal light (fluorescence) separation dichroic mirror switching section 5 are calculated before the device is shipped. Correction values for them are stored in the memory 21 of a CPU 20 in advance. When the optical member of the incidence switching section 3 and the excitation light/signal light (fluorescence) separation dichroic mirror switching section 5 are brought into the predetermined positions, the CPU 20 drives motors 13 and 14 based on the corresponding correction values, thereby moving a condenser lens 10 two-dimensionally in the direction of x and y axes. Thus, the focusing position of the condenser lens 10 can be made to coincide with the aperture center on a light shield plate 11.
