PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily connect and disconnect a wire between a stator of a DD motor built into a spindle head of a machine tool such as a five-axis machining tool and a machine tool body. SOLUTION: An indexing device for a machine tool includes: a rotary shaft for fixing a target member to be rotarily driven to its one end; a housing surrounding the outside of the rotary shaft; a bearing between the housing and the rotary shaft; and a driving means comprising a rotor and a stator provided around the rotary shaft, has the stator fixed to the housing and the rotor fixed to the rotary shaft. The housing comprises a casing member opposite to the target member for fixing the stator and a fixing member at the target member side for accommodating the bearing. The casing member is coupled to the fixing member. The rotary shaft, the bearing, the rotor and the fixing member are coupled to each other to constitute a built-in unit 22. The casing member and the stator are coupled to each other and in addition a stator cable is led out from the opposite side to the target member toward the fixing member to constitute an outer unit 21.
