PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for shortening the reaction time, in a capping reaction for forming an axial molecular terminal of a polypseudorotaxane, and for improving the versatility of the using capping agent. SOLUTION: A polyrotaxane containing an axial molecule threading through the opening of a ring component and having block groups formed by a capping agent at both terminals of the axial molecule is produced by reacting a combination of the axial molecule and the capping agent as an acid halide or ketone and amine in a solvent.
