Disclosed is an optical recording medium which comprises, on a substrate, at least a recording layer containing an organic dye and a reflective layer. This optical recording medium is characterized in that the recoding layer contains a copper chelate compound composed of an azo compound represented by a certain structural formula and copper, wherein the composition ratio between the azo compound and copper is 1:1.
